Everything you need in a gym. Cheap memberships for London and offers great classes. Equipment is relatively well maintained. Can get busy at peak hours but hasn't stopped me getting on the things I want to use.
I was a little nervous of going to a gym, but as the weather got rainy I found it hard to continue my woddling (jogging) in the park on a regular basis. So I joined a gym. Pure Gym in Wandsworth is quite and I found I got comfortable there quite quickly. The only down side was when I 1st attended there were no staff or reception, so I found myself wondering round aimlessly and using the wrong equipment for me (it would have been nice to have someone there just to show you were things are. However I found the app extremely useful and simple in showing how the apparatus works, which really enhanced my experience. I am beginning to enjoy it there now. It is easy to keep yourself to yourself and not feel that you are being judge. And you can use it at any time.
I used a three day free trial at this gym to try it out as I wanted to join a gym. The first thing I noticed was that I could only go to the specific gym I had the pass for. I only noticed this once trying to gain access to the putney gym... But the code to enter didn't work. This wasn't a great start. The problem with these gyms being unstaffed is that you can't actually speak to anyone to resolve the issue and gain entry. You can't even phone them as they don't have a phone number. All you can do is email them and wait several hours for an answer, but why would you waste several hours waiting outside a gym for an answer to an email? Very impractical. I then walked to the gym in Wandsworth Town which is the gym I had initially selected and fortunately gained access. I tried this gym out for three days and it also seemed like it was usually unstaffed. I at least managed to gain access and was able to exit the gym without much ado. Although, needing a code to gain entrance and the gym being unstaffed didn't fill me with much confidence if the emergency services would need to gain immediate access due to needing a code to get in. If they did manage to get in by some quirk of fate, and needed to stretcher someone out then there's no way in a thousand years they'd be able to carry anyone out on a stretcher through those pods - even if they had a code. I know they have their emergency leaver in case of an emergency, but they would still struggle to get in even if the emergency button worked properly. From reading other reviews it seems like the emergency button has been used before and there was no help available. For these reasons I would not recommend using this gym, even if it is somewhat cheaper than the competitors. The lower price comes at a higher risk!
Nice PureGym and staff are friendly. Unfortunately the changing rooms really let this gym down especially as there are regular problems with no hot water in the showers or flooding
As I said, I am re-evaluating the note due to the response to my complaint. At no time did I talk about the use of the mobile, but the use of the device while sitting on the workout machine. Looking for someone from the staff is an idea without a doubt and I appreciate it, but it doesn't solve the problem. But a warning spread across areas limiting usage time per approach can improve the situation. A manager who circulates around the area will also inhibit rubbish spread by users and other abuses such as Personal Trainers who use 02 or more workout machines to do "circuit" training with their private students. Note that I do not want to deteriorate the company's image, but to help and improve it. Thanks.
